Item Description

Deep in the mountains of Miyazaki, artisans have carefully baked this exquisite salt in a kiln at over 900 degrees, giving it a sweet taste with the minerals from bamboo.

Located in the lush mountainous area of Miyazaki Prefecture in Kyushu, Taketan no Sato has been committed to producing bamboo charcoal since its founding in 1997.

This special salt is made from moso bamboo grown in our own organic JAS-certified bamboo forest, and is carefully baked one by one by skilled artisans using traditional, authentic clay kiln methods.

By stuffing salt into dried bamboo tubes and firing them at high temperatures of over 900 degrees, the abundant minerals contained in the bamboo are transferred to the salt, resulting in a smooth sweetness, mellow flavor, and smoky aroma.

This premium salt, created by Japanese craftsmen, brings out the flavor of ingredients and elevates your cooking.

Product Features

● Traditional authentic earthenware kiln production method

No chemical fuels such as gas or oil are used, and the food is slowly baked over a period of about a month using only natural firewood and old bamboo.

Traditional charcoal-making techniques, which cannot be replicated by machines, produce the highest quality bamboo salt.

● Made with Moso bamboo from organic JAS certified bamboo forests

Taketan no Sato is a rare manufacturer in Japan that manages and cultivates its own bamboo forests.

Our bamboo forest, which covers approximately 5 hectares, has been certified organic by the JAS, and we use Moso bamboo, which is carefully grown in the mountains of Miyazaki, where the environment is free from pollution, as our raw material.

● A mild, sweet salt with bamboo minerals.

By firing at high temperatures of over 900 degrees, the minerals contained in the bamboo, such as potassium, calcium, and magnesium, permeate the salt.

It has a smooth, sweet and refined taste that sets it apart from ordinary salt.

● Department store quality, exported to France

It meets the strict quality standards of famous domestic department stores such as Mitsukoshi Isetan, Hankyu Hanshin, and Tokyu.

It has been exported to France, an environmentally advanced country, and its quality is recognized worldwide.

Recommended usage

A sprinkle of this on grilled meat or fish to bring out the delicious flavor of the ingredients.

It is ideal for dishes that have a direct salty taste, such as salads, cold tofu, edamame, sashimi, and tempura.

Because it is in powder form, you can easily taste the saltiness even with a small amount, so it is recommended for those who want to limit their salt intake.

When used in rice balls, it gives off a subtle bamboo flavor and a refined taste.

Frequently asked questions

Q. How is it different from regular salt?

A. By baking salt packed into a bamboo tube at over 900 degrees, the minerals derived from the bamboo are transferred to the salt.

Therefore, compared to regular salt, it has a mellow sweetness and deep umami flavor, and is characterized by an elegant saltiness that brings out the flavor of the ingredients.

Q. What is the expiration date?

A. Salt is a food that can be stored for a long time, but after opening, it should be stored in an airtight container away from moisture and consumed as soon as possible.

Q. What is the difference between "charcoal salt"?

A. "Kiln-baked bamboo salt" is a product in which salt is packed into a bamboo tube and baked, transferring the bamboo minerals into the salt.

You can also enjoy the smoky aroma.

On the other hand, "charcoal salt" is salt that contains bamboo charcoal powder, and each has a different manufacturing method and flavor.

Brand Story ~The Commitment of Bamboo Charcoal Village~

"What is needed to produce safe, reliable, high-quality bamboo charcoal that is accepted by customers?"

Since our founding, we have faced this question and the answer we have arrived at is "to grow the bamboo that is the raw material for bamboo charcoal."

Bamboo Charcoal Village Ltd. was founded in 1997 in Kunitomi Town, Miyazaki Prefecture.

They have their own bamboo forest of about 5 hectares deep in the mountains of Miyazaki, where the environment is unpolluted and the temperature is warm, and are a rare pottery manufacturer that handles everything from cultivating the moso bamboo that is the raw material to producing bamboo charcoal and then manufacturing the finished products.

The bamboo forest is JAS certified organic and is carefully cultivated using organic farming methods without the use of any pesticides or chemical fertilizers.

Only thick moso bamboo that is four years old or older and rich in minerals is selected.

The carefully harvested bamboo is dried naturally for at least three months and then smoked for a week.

Charcoal is made using traditional earthen kilns, which are difficult to control the temperature of.

No gas or heavy oil is used as fuel, only natural firewood and bamboo are used, and the temperature inside the kiln is raised to 800-1000 degrees over the course of about a week.

The final process, called "nerashi" and "hitomitome," is the most important moment that determines the quality of the bamboo charcoal.

Our skilled charcoal makers sharpen their five senses in pursuit of the best possible finish.

We also relentlessly pursue quality and safety.

Based on the technology and scientific data cultivated through joint research with the University of Miyazaki and the Miyazaki Prefectural Industrial Technology Center, we conduct bacterial tests for each production lot and regular tests for harmful substances.

Our products meet the strict quality standards of famous department stores such as Isetan Mitsukoshi and Hankyu Hanshin Department Stores, and we also export to overseas countries such as France and Singapore.

We are also working to create sustainable Satoyama based on the SDGs.

We aim to protect the forest environment by purchasing bamboo harvested from abandoned bamboo forests from local farmers, and to achieve "zero emissions" by making full use of all by-products produced during the manufacturing process.

Bamboo charcoal powder from Takecharnosato is a blend of artisanal skill and respect for nature.

Please use this excellent product, which combines Japanese tradition with the latest quality control, as part of your daily health routine.
