How to use (basics of extraction)

1. Preparation for the first time and every time: Quickly warm the filter by boiling it in boiling water.

2. Place in the dripper. We recommend using medium-fine to medium grinds.

3. Steam in hot water (approximately 92-96°C) for 30-40 seconds → slowly pour in the hot water.

4. After brewing, discard the powder, turn it inside out, rinse it under running water, then reshape it and hang it to dry. Linen dries quickly, so it's ready to use the next morning.

If you feel the extraction is heavy: Grind the coffee a little coarser / adjust the amount of powder and pouring speed. If you want more body: Grind the coffee a little finer / pour the water a little more slowly.

Care (to keep it clean and in good condition for a long time)

After each use: Discard the powder, turn it over and rinse under running water → Air dry

Regular maintenance: If the water is not draining properly or you notice a noticeable odor, refresh it by boiling it for a few minutes (put water and the filter in a pot and bring to a gentle boil).

Do not use: detergents containing chlorine bleach or fluorescent whitening agents, or dryers (which may cause shrinkage).

OK: If you use a mild detergent, use only a small amount. We recommend using our scallop powder for peace of mind. After washing, rinse thoroughly and hang to dry.

If you are concerned about the linen smell when you first use it, try lightly boiling it in coffee liquid and it will absorb the flavor of the beans from the first use.

FAQ

How many times can I use it?

Depending on how you use it and how you care for it, it will last anywhere from a few months to a year. If the fibers start to lose their strength or extraction speed becomes extremely slow, it's time to replace it.

Which drippers can it be used with?

Please use with a trapezoid dripper (for 2-4 cups). It is roughly the same size as the paper drippers sold by MUJI.

I'm worried about odor transfer.

After use, rinse inside out and dry quickly. If you notice any issues, you can reset it by boiling.

Is it okay to use detergent?

Generally, washing with hot water is sufficient. If you notice any oily or discolored coffee stains, try soaking your pan in our scallop powder diluted with water. If you use a mild detergent, use only a small amount and rinse thoroughly.
