Salt that preserves the ingredients of seawater
The motto is "Leave the sea as it is."

It is said that the reason why the sea around Miyakojima is so transparent is because the entire island is flat and there are no rivers, so mud and other debris do not flow off the land.
The island is made up of a geological layer called Ryukyu limestone, which was formed by the action of coral reefs. This layer has many cavities, which act as natural filters that remove impurities from the seawater.
In addition, since the Ryukyu limestone contains calcium and other components that seep out, it is believed that the underground seawater contains these components.
Snow salt is made from underground seawater pumped up through the Ryukyu limestone strata, with the aim of preserving as much of the ocean's ingredients as possible. It is characterized by containing bitterness, which is usually removed, and 14 types of ingredients have been detected.

Add nothing, subtract nothing. Leave the sea of Miyakojima as it is. That is Yukishio.
On August 9, 2000, Miyakojima Snow Salt was recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the salt with the greatest variety of mineral components in the world.
That category no longer exists, and so, based on the regulations of the Edible Salt Fair Trade Council, we can no longer use labels such as "Best in the World" or "Guinness Certified," but we still take great pride in the fact that the salt produced on this small island has been recognized by the world.
